The New Field at Coal Miner’s Park is Ready For the 2023 Spring Season!

Red Lodge Youth Soccer is moving forward with building a regulation size field on City-owned property at Coal Miner’s Park in Red Lodge in 2022!!

Carbon County has tenacious soccer youth, as young as 4 years of age, playing in early spring and late fall where snow is likely to shut down planned matches, on fields that are intended for park picnics, football and even baseball. Yet despite those conditions our outstanding players continue the sport here in Red Lodge and bring home Classic Spring League championship trophies.

Thanks to the Parks Board and the City of Red Lodge, we are approved to advance our long-awaited plans to build a field at Coal Miner’s Park, on the former coal repository site north of Red Lodge High School. This location is a perfect setting and will also provide community green space alongside other uses you may already enjoy – trails, bike skills course, frisbee golf, and winter sledding. This field, along with the use of the new turf field at the high school will provide practice areas and regulation game fields.

Red Lodge Youth Soccer is responsible for all design build costs for the soccer field.

Now we need your support! This project will cost approximately $158,000 to cover the site grading, imported topsoil, power and water supply, underground sprinklers and seeding. This field will be constructed in 2022 and ready for play in 2023.

To date, the Club has raised over 75 percent of the $158,000 necessary to construct one regulation-sized field, with imported topsoil, water supply and power, installation of underground irrigation, drill seeding and hydro mulching. As we are responsible for the entire capital project costs, our club needs to work hard to finish the fundraising. Thanks to the support we have received from donors to date, we are scheduled with the contractor and RLYS is committed to complete the project.
